Black Entrepreneurs Emancipation Pitch Competition gets boost from German’s

The Black Entrepreneurs Association is continuing plans for its Emancipation Pitch competition set for August 5th.

German’s Restaurant, a locally owned eatery that emphasizes Guyana’s creole cuisine, has announced that it will be donating one million dollars to the competition that is framed to identify the next generation of African-Guyanese business leaders. The Emancipation Pitch Competition will be hosted at Herdmanston Lodge on August 5, 2023.

It is expected to present an extraordinary opportunity for Afro-Guyanese incubators from various areas to showcase revolutionary business plans to a panel of entrepreneurs and industry leaders. With two million in cash prizes up for grabs, the competition presents the next generation of African-Guyanese business leaders with an opportunity to access seed capital to transform their business ideas into start-ups.

The Emancipation Pitch Competition has won the endorsement of German’s Restaurant which announced during a press conference on June 6th, coinciding with the launch of the competition that it was donating one million dollars towards it.

To enter the Emancipation Pitch Competition applicants are required to submit a one-page business proposal in PDF format. The proposal must include basic information such as the business name, concept, a business model, target market and describe the competitive advantage of the concept. The qualifying criteria for a successful proposal are the novelty of the concept, the viability of the business model, potential market size and competitive edge. Applications remain open until July 10th, 2023 and each will be reviewed by a panel of business experts. The successful candidates will be invited to pitch their proposals at the Emancipation Pitch Competition on August 5th, 2023, at Herdmanston Lodge.
