Man gets 18 months for escaping lawful custody

Keyambo Jarvis appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where two charges were laid against him to which he pleaded guilty.

It is alleged that on June 11, at Camp and Quamina streets, Georgetown, being in the company of another male, Jarvis robbed Police Lance Corporal Ronaldo Torres of one gold chain valued $150,000.

The police prosecutor had objected to bail and bail was refused.

However, on June 14, while being in police custody at the Brickdam Police Station, Georgetown, pending investigation of the alleged robbery with aggravation, Jarvis escaped. He was later recaptured.

He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for escaping lawful custody and for the robbery with aggravation charge, he is expected to make his next court appearance on July 26.
