Palmer’s Point boat captain died of multiple injuries -post mortem

The boat captain of Palmer’s Point, Lower Mazaruni, Region Seven, Carl Subratie, 61, whose body was found on Thursday died of multiple injuries, the police said.

Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore told the Sunday Stabroek that an investigation has begun into the death of the boat captain following the post mortem results.

Subratie was reported missing on June 18.

The search for his body began after he was suspected to have drowned after he failed to return home. He was last known to have dropped off his brother, Anderson Subratie, at Marshall’s Point Backdam.

The police report stated that around 12.00 hours on Thursday, ranks received information that the body was spotted below Marshall Falls, Lower Mazaruni River. Upon arriving at the scene, they observed the motionless body of Carl clad in a white T-shirt with green stripes and multicoloured boxers lying face down in the river.

The body was pulled from the river and examined. Several bruises and lacerations were observed about the body including to his forehead. There was also a laceration to Carl’s right knee, a missing left ear and gaping wound to his left forearm. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
