The Rotary Club of New Amsterdam (RCNA) has constructed and commissioned a multi-million dollar Reading Canopy at the New Amsterdam branch of the National Library, Republic Road, Vryman’s Erven.

For this project, the RCNA received assistance from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (CJCLDDS), a release from the club said.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President of the RCNA, Tajpaul Adjodhea expressed his appreciation to all involved. He was loud in praise of the contribution of the CJCLDS.

New Amsterdam Mayor Winifred Haywood in her remarks noted how pleased she is with the work of the RCNA, the release said.

Chief Librarian Emiley King in remarks expressed her heartfelt thanks to the RCNA for completing the project. She said that it was most appropriate as the Library is celebrating its 70th Anniversary.

The Canopy comes at an ideal time as it will fit in with the library’s summer reading plans, the release said.
