Three of Guyana’s athletics representatives who got out the blocks yesterday at the ongoing Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador experienced mixed fortunes at the Jorge ‘El Mágico’ Gonzalez Stadium.
While Kenisha Philips progressed to the 400m final after finishing fourth in heat one in 53.31s to snag the last qualifying spot in the final scheduled for tomorrow, Deshana Skeete’s quarter mile campaign, and Quamel Prince’s 800m medal aspirations ended.
Skeete placed fifth in her heat in 53.39s. On the other hand, Prince finished fourth in the first of two 800m semifinal races in 1:49.34s. It was however not enough to clinch a berth in today’s final since he was the 10th fastest qualifier.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s Emanuel Archibald who stormed to victory in the marquee men’s 100m final on Monday evening, will be back in action tomorrow in the 4x100m men’s relay. Today’s track and field action will be highlighted with the 200m, 800m and triple jump finals.
