A haversack with 86 grams of marijuana was discovered at the Mahdia Arcade by police ranks on ATV patrol at Mahdia Landing, Region Eight, during a search for illegal firearms, ammunition andThe cannabis being weighed narcotics.
A police report stated that about 19.15 hours, during the exercise, one of the ranks observed a red and black haversack hanging from a nail on a shop wall. The haversack was opened and inside was discovered three transparent plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. Several persons were questioned and they denied any knowledge of the haversack.
The bag and contents were taken to the Mahdia Police Station, where the three parcels of suspected cannabis were weighed and amounted to 86 grammes. A further search was carried out of the haversack, and $1,700 cash was found.
