Nandranie Coonjah was today sworn in as a Member of Parliament to replace the resigned Minister of Local Government, Nigel Dharamlall.
Speaker of the National Assembly Manzoor Nadir announced at the 65th sitting of the 12th Parliament that Dharamlall had resigned on July 13th with effect from July 4th and the Representative of the List was asked to extract another name.
Coonjah is longstanding PPP/C Member from Region 2.
Dharamlall resigned amid a scandal over a rape allegation against him.
