The acting President of the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), Goolzar Namdar has passed away.
This is according to a post on the Facebook page of President Irfaan Ali.
In a tribute, the President said: “In Brother Goolzar, the poor and the downtrodden had an ear and a willing helper, a man whose own home was open to all. He was a trailblazer in alleviating the suffering of the poor and vulnerable on the West Coast of Demerara so much that his became a household name.
“I am fortunate to have had many wonderful memories with my dear brother and he was an enduring source of inspiration”.
