A man was yesterday afternoon found dead at his Port Mourant residence.

Ameer Ally Hoosein, also know as `Mother’, 39, of John’s, Port Mourant, Corentyne was found dead just around 4.45 pm

According to relatives, the man, a labourer, had been missing since Monday.

Stabroek News was told that the man was last heard from Sunday afternoon when a neighbour called him to collect food but the man didn’t turn up as he normally would.

Residents yesterday afternoon detected a foul smell coming from the house and alerted his relatives who upon checking discovered his body in a pool of blood.

His aunt, Monica Mohan, 68, Lot 66 John’s, Port Mourant, Corentyne, who made the discovery said, “When I go from the bridge go in, get blood and in front the door get the blood and back of the window get blood with one plate and he lay down flat with he face.”

The police were then informed and Hoosein’s body was taken to the Ramu Funeral Parlour. A post-mortem examination is expected to be done.

Mohan yesterday told Stabroek News that the man did not suffer from any illnesses.  Hoosein was deported from the United States of America some twenty years ago

According to her, after returning to Guyana Hoosein resided with her for eighteen years but decided just over one year ago to move a couple of houses down in the street. “Is an old house and them people give he to live… Because of he company and when me holler pon him he move and go there about more than a year now.”

The woman described the man as very helpful to his neighbours. “He na get problem with nobody, he and them neighbours alright. If them call he to go shop he go and them give he food and money.”
