Man fined, to do community service for possession of cannabis

Sherwin Babb (address not stated) appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where he was charged with possession of narcotics.

It is alleged that on July 26, at Brickdam, Georgetown, the defendant had in his possession 3 grammes of cannabis.

The defendant pleaded guilty with explanation. He told the court that he had the cannabis for his personal use.

As a result of his guilty plea, the defendant was fined $5,000 and ordered to report to the Brickdam Police Station every Monday to carry out 6 months of community service.
