Fifty-eight-year-old Lochan Sookdeo of Perseverance, Region Two died yesterday afternoon after he fell from his e-bike at Airy Hall. The incident occurred at around 5 pm.

Sookdeo was a tailor by profession and a security guard at Jagmohan’s wharf at Vilvoorden.

His  distraught wife, Pamo Sookdeo, is still in a state of disbelief. She recounted that her husband had sewn all day and had left for work in high spirits. Sookdeo said that they received a call around 17.30 hours from a resident that he was lying  on the roadway.

When relatives arrived at the scene, they saw blood oozing from his nose. They rushed him to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is currently at the Suddie mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

Sookdeo noted that her husband was a loving man and she is at a loss as to how she will carry on her life without him. The family meanwhile thinks that it was not an accident but rather that he perhaps got dizzy and fell off his e-bike. They are upset that no one from the community went to his aid.

“I think if someone came out and help and rushed him to the hospital maybe he would have lived but he is no more,” the wife said.
