Guyana arrive in Colombia for Pan AM Championships

The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) six member fight roster officially arrived in Bogota, Colombia on Wednesday to compete in the Pan American Championships from August 10th-13th.

The team comprises Captain Corwin D’Anjou [welterweight], Ijaz Cave [light heavyweight], Christopher James [heavyweight], Ijaz Cave [middleweight], Shenese Bobb [lightweight], and Anevia Frank [bantamweight].

Guyana will commence their campaign today with three bouts. D’Anjou will oppose Joshua James of Trinidad and Tobago, whilst Frank will engage Brazilian Josiane Oliveira, and Bobb will battle Fernanda Guersa of Brazil. The competition falls under the jurisdiction of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

Guyana ended its participation in the inaugural Pan American Championships Monterrey, Mexico in 2022 with two silver medals.

Carl Ramsey lost in the men’s heavyweight final via Technical Knockout (TKO) in the second round to Trinidad and Tobago competitor Jeremy Rodulfo, whilst Bobb also won a silver medal after losing her women’s lightweight final to Samantha Teutle of Mexico via disqualification in the second round.
