City football returns to GFC ground

After two weeks of play on the artificial turf at the National Training Facility in Providence, the Georgetown Football Association’s senior men’s league will resume at City Headquarters, the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground with a triple-header tomorrow.

There are reports that the impasse between the GFA and the GFC that led to the two-week switch away from the City has now been resolved and league matches will resume at Bourda.

Camptown FC and Riddim Squad FC will meet in the opener at 2pm while league leaders, Beacons FC will oppose Black Pearl at 4pm. Home side GFC will entertain Pele FC in the feature match at 6pm.

At Timehri Red Ground, the East Bank FA’s SML will continue tomorrow with a triple-header beginning at 10:30 am when sixth-placed Samatta Point on four points play seventh placed Circuit Ville on three  points in their fourth outing. At 1pm, fourth placed Diamond United on six points from three games will confront second placed Herstelling Raiders on 10 points (one of two unbeaten teams after four matches) and, in the final game set for 3:30pm, unbeaten leaders Timehri Panthers, with a superior goal-difference on 10 points will oppose third placed Soesdyke Falcons on six points from three outings.

Meanwhile on the West side two more sets of double-headers are set for the Tuschen Community Centre ground where the West Demerara FA is staging its senior men’s league. Today’s matches will feature, Wales FC against Number One All Stars at 2pm and to follow at 4pm, Uprising FC face the might of Slingerz FC.

Tomorrow’s games will bring together Uitvlugt Warriors and Crane Rovers at 2pm and in the final match, Pouderoyen FC will tackle Belle West FC at 4pm.
