Trade unionist Norman Semple passes away at 95

The Semple Family Founda-tion yesterday announced the passing of its founder member, trade unionist Norman Eric Semple. A release from the family said that he died on August 17, 2023.

The Semple Family Foundation credits him for being the architect of its existence and longevity from 1988 to present. He was its first Chairman and held that position for about twenty eight years, when he retired in 2016, the family said.

A release from the family said that in 2017 he was honoured by the Semple Family Foundation for his dedication and leadership. He celebrated his 95th birth anniversary last October.

Semple was the son of Frédéric Semple aka Captain aka Sammy of No. 8 and of Vooborg Canje, East Berbice.

He is also a grandson of Pa Richard’s son Phillip Semple who established his family unit in Hopetown.
