Vergenoegen powerhouse Slingerz FC continued their unbeaten run in the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League, clipping Eagles 11-0 yesterday at the Tuschen ground.

Like the previous fixtures, which featured the Slingerz outfit, the contest was over at the halftime interval. In this instance, the score at the conclusion of the first half was 5-0, which rendered the contest practically over.

Lennox Young, Ricardo Halley, Jamal Codrington, Leo Lovell, and Bryan Wharton recorded the aforesaid goals in the second, 16th, 21st, 28th, and 38th minutes, respectively. The second half mirrored the first, as an additional six strikers were recorded.

Codrington completed his brace in the 46th minute, before Deon Alfred added his name to the scorer’s sheet in the 61st minute. This was followed by an 80th-minute conversion from Clive Nobrega. Respective doubles for Alfred, Lovell, and Halley were then completed following efforts in the 83rd, 85th, and 87th minutes apiece.

Meanwhile, newcomer Belle West overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat experienced outfit Wales 3-1. Queasy Alleyne handed Wales the initial lead in the ninth minute, directing his header into the left corner after receiving a cross from the right side of the field inside the penalty area.

However, an unfortunate own goal recorded in the 32nd minute restored parity to proceedings, which was a combination of errors featuring the combination of Marvin Josiah and Tristan Roberts.

Second-half goals in the form of Derrick Cornelius and Adrian Webster then secured the come-from-behind result. Cornelius handed Belle West the lead in the 60th minute, slotting into the back of the net after pouncing on a loose ball that was spilled by the goalkeeper following a cross into the area from the right side.

Wales was then reduced to 10 players in the 72nd minute as Shamar Abrams received a red card after recording his second bookable offense for dissent towards the official.

Webster then completed the result with an 85th-minute conversion, tackling the ball into the back of the net after sliding to make contact with a right-sided cross.
