Job readiness scheme sees 238 youths graduate

Two hundred and thirty-eight youths are now better prepared with the knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment, following a graduation ceremony at the Guyana Police Force, Officers’ Training Centre on Friday.

Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour; Safety, Security, Health and Environment  Manager of ExxonMobil,  Adam Cantu; Executive Director of SSYDR Inc., Magda Griffith-France and other were in attendance.

A release from the Ministry of  Labour said that this was made possible by a collaboration between Specialists in Sustained Youth  Development and Research Inc. (SSYDR) and ExxonMobil Guyana on the job-readiness summer camp initiative.

Participants from Regions Two, Three, Four, Six, and Ten received one month of training in areas such as literacy, job preparedness,  workplace safety and health, financial fitness and entrepreneurship.

The release added that SSYDR Inc. also ensures that they have the necessary documents for employment with the help of the Central Recruitment and  Manpower Agency which is in charge of matching qualified people with existing vacancies as well as canvassing for job

vacancies for potential job seekers.
