GRA serves City Council demand letter for $1.4B

The Georgetown Mayor and City Council was served a demand letter from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) for the outstanding payments for Pay-As-You-Earn-Tax (PAYE) amounting to the total of $1.4b.

This figure was derived through an accumulation between the periods of 2016 to 2022 as PAYE deductions were made but never remitted to GRA. The council has furthermore agreed to engage their legal counsel on this matter.

The letter was revealed at the statutory meeting of the city council yesterday.
