Dear Editor,
CRG offers its congratulations to the Ministry of Education for the establishment of the 6th form block at Queen’s College. It will allow for focused learning and I am sure the 6th form students will also enjoy the walks to the main building to carry out their additional duties. The location of the new block has a very rich history. It was where previous headmasters such as Mr. Trotz use to live. The older generation of alumni still speak highly of him and his contribution to their success. Another member of the Trotz Family was also headmaster, but this was during the generation of the Minister of Finance and I. The younger Mr. Trotz also had a significant impact on our success. He gave Ashni the opportunity to be head prefect and he was also the person that offered me an opportunity to teach at Queen’s College during the teacher shortage which occurred shortly after taking my CXC exams. The Trotz Family continues to be significant contributors to academia and Dr. Maya Trotz who is also from our generation is an environmental engineering professor at a University in the USA. I fondly remember her telling me about the top Universities in the USA during one of her visits to QC, and thanks to that conversation I pursued my studies in an Ivy League University in the USA.
CRG looks forward to when the Trotz Family name is appropriately recognized and remembered in the Halls of Queen’s College.
