Courts Pee Wee football kicks off today

The 10th edition of the Courts Pee Wee Football Championship will commence today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

At 10:30 a.m., Soesdyke will oppose Kabakaburi and Redeemer will engage Tapakuma while at 11:20 a.m., St. John will battle Annandale, and Potaro will oppose St. Ambrose.

In the fifth and sixth fixtures at 12:10 a.m., One Mile faces off with F.E. Pollard while Rosignol takes aim at Winfer Gardens.

At 13:00hrs, All Saints match skills with St. Gabriel’s and Belladrum tackles Tucville while at 13:50hrs, St. Aloysius battles Colaaco and North Georgetown faces off against Westfield.

Leonora will then lock horns with St. Stephen’s while West Ruimveldt opposes Sophia at 14:40 hours while Anns’ Grove takes aim at Friendship and Marian Academy tackles Smith’s Memorial at 15:30 hours.

In the final two matches, St. Pius engages Den Amstel and defending champions, Enterprise locks horns with Plaisance at 16:20 hrs.

The grand finale will be on October 28th. All matches will be held at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

The teams have been divided into eight groups of four, and the top two finishers from each section will advance to the elimination round. The respective losers in the knockout section will progress to the plate division to battle for positions 5–16.

Group A comprises Enterprise, St. Aloysius, Colaaco, and Plaisance while group B features St. Pius, Rosignol, Winfer Gardens and Den Amstel, and group C contains Marian Academy, All Saints, St. Gabriel’s and Smith’s Memorial.

Meanwhile, group D consists of North Georgetown, Belladrum, Tucville Primary and Westfield, while group E is made up of Redeemer, Leonora, St. Stephens and Tapakuma, and group F features Soesdyke, St. John, Annandale and Kabakaburi.

Group G comprises West Ruimveldt, Potaro, St. Ambrose, and Sophia and Group I is made up of Ann’s Grove, One Mile, F.E. Pollard, and Friendship.

The winner of the tournament will receive the championship trophy, gold medals, and a pair of uniforms. Each player will also be presented with an electronic tablet. The runners-up will collect a trophy, silver medals, and six balls. The third-place finisher will pocket a trophy and four balls, while the fourth-place side will walk away with a trophy.

On the individual side, a trophy and a pair of football cleats will be presented to the eventual most valuable player, highest goal scorer, and best goalkeeper.
