The metal arch installed across the Little Diamond New Access Road on the East Bank of Demerara by the Ministry of Housing was damaged on Friday when a Canter (#GSS 1912), driven by 35-year-old Brian Hubert Cameron, collided with it.

The police yesterday said that the incident occurred around 5.30 pm on Friday  as the Canter was proceeding north along the western driving lane of the Little Diamond New Access Road. As it passed the arch, which spans from east to west across the road, the top of the Canter collided with the arch, which was dislodged, fell onto the road  and broke.

A notice of intended prosecution was prepared and served on the 35-year-old driver. The vehicle was lodged at the Little Diamond outpost.

The government has warned that damage to public infrastructure will see the guilty being made to pay for repairs.
