Vishwanauth Mohamed, a 27-year-old taxi driver from Barnwell, East Bank Essequibo, was arrested on 2023/09/23 and charged yesterday with the offence of possession of a firearm without licence and possession of ammunition without a licence.
The police said that the defendant appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul, where both charges were read to him. The prosecutor objected to bail, and he was remanded to prison.
At about 14:00 hrs on 2023/09/23, acting on information received, Police went to a house at Barnwell, East Bank Essequibo, where they arrested the 27-year-old of the said address, who was found to be in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm with two matching rounds of ammunition.
