On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health’s Disability and Rehabilitation Services hosted a graduation ceremony for persons living with disabilities who have completed the Vocational Skills Training Programme.

The ceremony was held in the boardroom of the Ministry of Health on Brickdam. A release from the Ministry of Health said that the Permanent Secretary (PS), Malcolm Watkins in his brief remarks said that the Ministry continues to expand the support and look at ways to provide different types of resources for persons with disabilities.

According to the PS, the Ministry of Health’s commitment to improving health and well-being for persons with disabilities has proven itself throughout the years as many resources have been put towards the programme in many areas including the availability of prosthetic, eye care services and training resources to places such as Open Door Centre.

This particular training was geared at making persons with disabilities (PWDs) contributing members of society through employment and entrepreneurship.

Also present at this morning’s ceremony were Erica Verwayne Manager(ag) for the Open Door Centre and Nole Griffith and Staff of the Centre.
