Kayum Khan, a 40-year-old unemployed man of Grove Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara, was charged on Friday with break and enter and larceny and jailed for six months after pleading guilty.
The act was committed at Trust Mart Supermarket, owned by Yu Heng Guo, between September 25th, 2023, at about 21:00 hrs and September 26th, 2023, at 07:30 hrs.
He stole: ** 1 case of Absolut Vodka valued at $48,000
** 1 bottle Johnny Walker Black Label valued at $13,000
** 1 bottle of 12-year-old El Dorado Rum valued at $7,200
** 25 cartons of cigarettes valued at $100,000
The accused appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate Court #1 before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
