Region One Police Commander, Himnauth Sawh, says that the body of a man was found with a stab wound to the left side of his chest on Sunday at Powis Landing.
The man was allegedly murdered during an argument. The deceased was identified as Jamal Fields of Anns Grove, East Coast Demerara.
Sawh said that the police had received a report about a body bearing a stab wound at Powis Landing, Region One on Sunday. A video seen by this newspaper showed Fields lying in a pool of blood gasping for breath. A group of people had gathered but Fields was left to die. According to Sawh, ranks who were dispatched to the area went in search of a suspect. A person of interest was arrested yesterday and stated that he was involved in a heated argument with Fields. The suspect remains in custody assisting the police with their investigations.
