Ancel Lewis of Lichfield, Berbice recently turned 100 and has been hailed by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

“We are thrilled to announce a remarkable milestone! Originally hailing from Litchfield, Berbice, Mr. Lewis, a true legend in our midst, has achieved an incredible feat of turning 101 years and joining the prestigious (Centenarian’s) Club at the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security”, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said that Lewis’s journey is as inspiring as it is exceptional. He began his career as a “pork knocker” before finding his way to the D’Aguiar brothers, where his dedication and hard work stood out. His path eventually led him to London, where he met the love of his life and started a family which yielded six children.

Beyond his remarkable career and family life, the ministry said that Lewis also has a passion for exploration and knowledge. He finds joy in traveling the world and delving into books.

“As we celebrate this incredible achievement, let’s take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Lewis for his remarkable contributions and dedication over the years. His journey from Berbice to London, from a “pork knocker” to a (centenarian), is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and a lifelong love for serving the community.
