(Trinidad Guardian) Members of the T&T Police Service yesterday made another haul of arms and ammunition in Santa Cruz.

This time, however, tactical police uniforms, both authentic and fake, bullet proof vests, boots, sirens, blue lights, rifle parts, assorted rifles, diffusers and magazines were all part of another large haul recovered and seized by police officers during a massive intelligence-led operation conducted in lower Santa Cruz.

This was the second large haul in under a week in the Cangrejal Road community.

Last Wednesday, police, after receiving information, went into the area, where they found over 35 high-powered weapons, assorted ammunition and explosives.

Yesterday, officers received additional information of more weapons and other items being hidden in the same region.

This prompted officers from the Inter Agency Task Force to mobilise to head up into the area again.

Shortly before midday, a large contingent of officers, accompanied by members of the Canine Unit, set out in a convoy to Santa Cruz. The contingent arrived and went into the bushes, where they spent several hours searching the area, which also has a quarry.

Shortly after 7 pm, the officers left the area with the seized items and headed to the IATF headquarters in Aranguez, San Juan, where they unloaded their find and carried out an inventory.

Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher, who visited the site to view the haul, again vowed to go after the criminals.

“We will continue and I thank the members of the public who are coming out with the information,” Harewood-Christopher said.
