The Guyana Police Force are on the hunt for a man who escaped after dropping a bag containing a gun and five rounds of matching ammunition after seeing a patrol van near the Caricom Secretariat.
According to a police statement, ranks were on patrol around 00:10 hrs on Saturday and had proceeded to Turkeyen, in the vicinity of the Caricom Secretariat. There, they observed a party on a street running north to south. The statement said that ranks then observed a man in a white jersey and blue long pants with a black one-strap bag. Upon seeing the patrol, the man dropped the bag and escaped, running in a northerly direction. In the bag, ranks found one .32 pistol and five rounds of matching ammunition. The police said that all checks for the suspect have turned up futile.
