Smart classroom unveiled at Stewartville Secondary

In keeping with the Ministry of Education’s vision to transform the education sector, a smart classroom was yesterday commissioned at the Stewartville Secondary School.

The $7 million smart classroom is equipped with an audio system, interactive boards, and voice-activated cameras, among other features, a release from the Ministry of Education said. It is also fully air-conditioned. Four other classrooms were equipped with an interactive board.

Delivering the feature address, Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand stated that integrating technology in education delivery is integral. She noted that the Ministry of Education is working to ensure every school is equipped with a smart classroom.

She encouraged the students to utilise the resources available to them and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing educational opportunities to students regardless of their geographical location.

Provisions for the smart classrooms form part of a $1.3 billion allocation in the Ministry of Education 2023 budget under the Secondary Education Improvement Project which is being funded through the World Bank.
