Targeting e-Bikes

Dear Editor,

I was sent a photo of a circular dated the 11th October and signed by a Gavindra Ramnarain CEO of GSA. The said circular was sent to the staff of GSA Cotton Field campus, stating that it was brought to the attention of management that staff who use electric bikes to go to work were charging their bikes on the premises. The circular further stated that “the cost for electricity utilized must be paid for by the school consequently, resulting in an increase in operational cost.”

Finally, the circular advised that staff using the “school resources” (electricity) to charge their electric vehicles should desist with immediate effect. I am wondering if this is a new gov’t policy for all gov’t ministries or just an edict coming out of the CEO of GSA, unknown to Minister Zulfikar? How about all the cell phones and PCs that are being charged in state buildings!  Why are E-bikes being singled out for discrimination? My source has informed me that no other GSA campuses were issued this circular.

Sincerely,

Rudolph Singh
