I thank Ron Robinson for his superb performance in ‘The Last Of The Redmen’, the play by the late Michael Gilkes, which was performed at the Cultural Centre last Saturday.
Praise also for Henry Muttoo who did an extraordinary job directing the play online. And for Gem Madhoo-Nascimento, producer of the play, indeed Guyana’s best producer. And for Mark Edwards who did so well in his supporting role. And praise, of course, for the marvellous words of Michael Gilkes whose shade in Theatre’s Elysian Fields must be smiling.
Guyana has a long and distinguished tradition in theatre. No one excels Ron Robinson in this tradition. In this play, at this late stage in his career, he has given a performance for the ages.
