Fire service removes fallen tree from Agricola house

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) on Sunday, November 12, 2023, responded to an emergency special service at Lot 96 Back Half Second Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara, where a tree had fallen on a two-story wooden and concrete building owned by Sandra Timothy of Lot 96 Front Half, Second Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara.

Upon arrival at the location,  a release from the GFS said that firefighters carefully assessed the situation and thereafter proceeded to remove the fallen tree from the house, utilizing chainsaws. No life was loss neither was anyone trapped inside the house. However, a number of household items, the roof, and the northern and eastern walls of the house were destroyed.

At the time of the emergency, the GFS said that the property which measures approximately 9.1m x 7.1m, with a roof of corrugated metal sheets, was being occupied by Onika Bostick, Gerron Williams and Shemarion Gomes on the top floor. The upper floor of the building was thereafter rendered unsafe for occupancy, by the Guyana Fire Service.
