(Trinidad Guardian) Having tragically lost his two sons to violence five years ago, Ramnarine Ramdhan had ambitious plans for his youngest son, Rosario Ramdhan.

However, fate took a cruel turn when Rosario became an unwitting victim of Sharaz Ageemoolar’s murderous rage against his ex-wife Anissa Rajgobin-Ageemoolar on Monday.

Sharaz shot Anissa in an insurance company at the Cross Crossing Shopping Centre, killed Rosario outside when he stole a car to escape the scene, and then took his own life by shooting himself in the head.

Anissa survived the vicious attack and is still warded at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Speaking to Guardian Media yesterday, Ramdhan said since his son’s murder, his heart has been heavy not only for his family but also for Sharaz and Anissa’s two grown sons, whom he met at the Forensic Sciences Centre, St James, on Tuesday.

“They were distraught and they looked very scared. I want them to know that it is not their fault what happened to their parents,” Ramdhan said.

At that time, Ramdhan said he was still in shock over his son’s untimely demise, so when the Ageemoolar brothers came to him to offer condolences, he could not bear it.

“I don’t think I spoke to them as I should. I am sorry for what happened. My son was there at the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever happened is not their fault and I want them to know that nobody will do them anything. They have nothing to fear. We will get through this,” Ramdhan said.

Having already experienced grief, Ramdhan said he has not been able to sleep since Rosario’s death.

“My boss at Massy has offered counselling but I don’t think anything will help me really, except myself and my wife, who is with me through this,” Ramdhan said.

He explained that in 2018, he lost sons Nicholas and Stephon Ramdhan in separate shootings.

Nicholas Ramdhan and his friend Roland Berkeley, both 23, were shot dead at Hill Top, Springvale, Claxton Bay, at 2 am on October 23, following a dispute over bail money.

Ramdhan’s eldest son Stephon, also known as Stephon Forgenie, was killed seven months prior in what police believe to be a hit. He was shot more than 20 times in his chest and lower abdomen.

Ramdhan said after he lost his two sons, he had hopes for Rosario, his youngest, who had plans to migrate.

Unfortunately, Rosario could not secure a US visa to travel.

Rajgobin-Ageemoolar was at General Accident Insurance at Cross Crossing, San Fernando, on Monday when she was approached by her ex-husband, who asked to speak to her outside. She refused. He then shot her twice in the chest with an illegal gun and then fled outside.

Ageemoolar then tried to enter a parked white Tiida, in which Ramdhan was seated in the back seat. Police said Ramdhan’s relative, Kenton Moses, who owns the car, was inside the insurance office but ran outside and tried to grab Ageemoolar. However, Ageemoolar discharged the gun and hit Ramdhan, who stumbled out of the vehicle and died a short distance away.

Ageemoolar escaped in the car but was found dead in it in La Romain hours later.
