Tournament dark-horse LA Ballers and emerging outfit Young Gunners secured their respective semi-final berths following contrasting wins when the ExxonMobil/New Era Futsal Championship continued last night at the Retrieve Tarmac in Linden.
The LA Ballers unit overcame a formidable DC Ballers side by a 4-3 score-line in the second quarterfinal fixture of the night. In what can only be described as a very competitive encounter, Tyric McAllister was the architect of the victory, as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet twice.
Support came in the form of dependable Georgetown recruit Adrian Aaron and the talented Jehu Regis, who recorded one goal apiece. On the other side, solitary conversions emanated from the boots of Nathan Fiedtkou, Zidane Ramdeholl, and Alan Halley, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Young Gunners riddled the Money Team 5-2 to commence the elite eight segment. Rodensio Tudor engineered the demolition as he crafted a hat-trick. He was supported by Kamar McLaren and Omarion Ramsammy, who contributed one goal apiece. For the loser, the combination of Renard Caesar and Jevon Bethune found the back of the net once, respectively.
Up to press time, the other two remaining quarterfinal matches were underway. The semi-final will be staged tomorrow at the same location, with the final pencilled for Saturday. The winner will receive $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will pocket $500,000 and the corresponding accolade. The third and fourth-place finishers will receive $200,000 and $100,000, respectively.
