Man, 72, nabbed with 23 grams cocaine – police

Collymore Scipio called ‘David’, a 72-year-old of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, was arrested at around 8.20 am yesterday after Police ranks allegedly found him to be in possession of 23 grams of cocaine.

The Police ranks, acting on information received, approached Scipio who was in the vicinity of the Police Outpost at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Scipio had in his possession a bulky black plastic bag which he was holding in his right hand. One of the ranks searched the bag and found four pieces of whitish, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine.

He was arrested and escorted to the Parfait Harmonie Police Station, along with the suspected cocaine which, when weighed, amounted to 23 grams.

Scipio was placed into custody pending further investigation. He is slated to be charged.
