Strathspey school boy dies after struck in head by another pupil

An eleven-year-old boy of Strathspey Primary School, East Coast Demerara died at the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday after he was struck in the head by another pupil in school.

Stabroek News contacted the Ministry of Education’s Public Relations Officer, Murtland Haley who stated that the Ministry is awaiting details from a senior officer on the incident that occurred. There was no word from the police on this matter yesterday.

There has been a spate of serious violence in and around schools involving students, parents, teachers and outsiders. The Ministry recently launched an anti-violence pilot programme at a city school.
