Limacol Schools League set to conclude today

With several positions yet to be confirmed heading into the year-end championship, the 2023 edition of the Limacol Secondary Schools Football League will culminate this evening at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

In the opening match, seventh-placed Anns Grove will lock horns with third-placed Bartica Secondary. The Region #7 outfit must avoid defeat to stand a chance of finishing in the top three and qualify for a place in the KFC Goodwill Series.

The second match will be a Linden Derby, as fifth-placed Mackenzie battles the deposed champion and sixth-placed Wismar/Christianburg at 15:00hrs, as both teams strive to end their campaign on a positive note.

The final match of the evening will pit league leader and undefeated outfit Chase Academy against fourth-positioned Santa Rosa at 17:00 hrs. Chase Academy only requires a draw to claim the title, while their opponent requires a win to stand any chance of finishing in the top three and earning a place in the year-end championship.

The eventual winner will pocket $300,000 towards a school project, while the second, third, and fourth-place prizes are $150,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively. On the individual side, the resulting Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper will also be awarded.
