Three servicemen in copter crash died from burns

Information from the police yesterday said that three of the servicemen who died in last Wednesday’s helicopter crash near Arau died from burns.

The other two succumbed to multiple injuries. There were two survivors.

In a statement yesterday, the police said that Government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh performed the Post-Mortem Examinations on Monday morning.

The police said that retired Brigadier, Gary Beaton; Lieutenant Colonel, Michael Charles and Lieutenant Colonel Sean Welcome died from burns. The Guyana Defence Force had said that the fuselage of the crashed helicopter was badly burnt.

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Shahoud and Sergeant Jason Khan died from multiple injuries.

DNA samples were taken from the burned victims and their relatives. Their bodies were thereafter handed over to the relatives for burial.
