On December 18, 2023, the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital’s surgical team, led by obstetricians Dr. Rondell Stuart and Dr. Rohini Rupan, successfully performed its first lower caesarean (C-section).
A release yesterday from the Ministry of Health said that the collaborative effort of the surgical team, which also included an Anesthetic Technician, Scrub Nurses, and Recovery Nurses, resulted in the safe delivery of a healthy baby girl weighing 3.2 kgs to Akita Mahaica. The release said that Mahaica is currently on the path to a smooth recovery and expressed her gratitude for the care and treatment she received both pre- and post-surgery at Mahaicony Cottage Hospital.
