Dear Editor,
As we prepare to bid farewell to the year 2023, it is perhaps only natural that we reflect on the past 12 months. Were our plans and expectations for 2023 met fully, partially or not at all? Furthermore, we must seek to determine the possible reasons behind our achievements/failures so that we can build on the former and correct the mistakes that may have led to the latter. For some of us, we hardly remember the resolutions we made if indeed we did make any. So what do we do? Continue to make promises to ourselves that we can hardly keep? Many make resolutions because for us it is a custom, a common practice but we seldom reflect on whether we attained them or not and what may have been the contributing factors to our attaining our set goals or not achieving them.
For me, the end of a calendar year is always a time for reflection. Suggest we approach the New Year with a resolve to look diligently for and to find the opportunities hidden in each day. Suggest that we commit into the hands of the Almighty God the happenings of 2023 and seek by way of our prayers His direction and guidance during 2024. For whether we want them or not, the New Year will bring new challenges; whether we seize them or not, the New Year will bring new opportunities. Let us approach the Year 2024 with a resolve to look diligently for and to find the opportunities hidden in each day. Suggest that we commit into the hands of the Almighty God the happenings of 2023 and seek by way of our prayers His direction and guidance as we eagerly look forward to the New Year 2024
