Diamond man remanded over two armed robberies

A Diamond, East Bank Demerara man was yesterday remanded over two armed robberies.

The police say that Kevin Batson called ‘Kero’, a 29-year-old unemployed resident of School Street, Diamond was arrested by Police and charged yesterday for an armed robbery on Joshua Singh, on 2024-01-04 at Diamond Public Road.

Batson is accused of robbing Singh of a quantity of items valued at $215,000.

He appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty. Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison. The matter was postponed to 2024-02-02.

Batson was also charged for an armed robbery on Rajesh Ramlakhan at Grove Housing Scheme, EBD, on January 07th, 2024.  He pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Scarce and was also remanded on this charge.  The matter was adjourned to February 2nd, 2024.
