Turing boasts into farce

Dear Editor,

The continued spate of power outages, as attested to in a letter by a pensioner (SN Jan 13), makes a mockery of the junior minister’s recent claim (read that as boast) that demand does not exceed what the national grid can provide. It would seem even the purchased relief generators, which were supposed to ease the situation, have not been mightily impactful. So did the minister get it wrong? It is hoped the pensioner receives his grant (stop fooling him) and the anticipated increase in old age pension, to be announced in Monday’s Budget presentation, would not be a disappointment for this category of citizens.

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
