A Corentyne family of five is now contemplating their next move after a fire of unknown origin completely destroyed their two-storey house at Tarlogie Farm, Corentyne.

Shaneka Joseph, of Lot 1 B Tarlogie Farm, Corentyne, relayed that they were fast asleep yesterday morning when her cousin alerted them around 4 am that there was a fire inside of the house.

“She (the cousin) run out and she shout fire! and I could see the flames from my bedroom. Her entire bed was on fire and I called out my brother and mom and my brother throw water but that made everything worse.”

According to Joseph, in a matter of minutes the fire spread throughout the two- storey wooden and concrete house destroying everything in its path.

While she was unable to give an estimate of her losses, Joseph said that the entire house was fully furnished, “We had two refrigerators, three chair sets, two televisions, gas stoves, four beds, wardrobes, vanity, everything that is supposed to be in a household we had those.”

The young lady said that as of yesterday they were considering what their next move would be. “We are just trying to gather ourselves at this time”, she said.

She added, that their neighbours have offered support at this time.
