The body of Tilach Nateram called ‘Boy’ or ‘Rice’, a 42-year-old fisherman of Number Four Settlement, Blairmont Village, West Bank Berbice (WBB) who was believed to have drowned sometime between 17.30 hours and 23.45 hours on Friday, was found on Friday  in a canal.

He was last seen alive in the village at about 5.30 pm on Friday, consuming alcohol.

At about 11.45 pm on Friday, Erol Collins, a 57-year-old sluice attendant, was informed by Dichand Balgobin, a 45-year-old fisherman of Number Four Settlement, that he had discovered the body of Nateram in the canal, near the sluice where Collins works.

The body was pulled out of the canal and examined by police but no marks of violence were seen.

Persons in the area were questioned and information obtained revealed that Nateram would usually set his seine in the same canal.
