Office of the President selling 50 unserviceable vehicles

The Office of the President (OP) has announced an invitation for bids from interested individuals and organisations for the purchase of 50 unserviceable vehicles “as is”. The vehicles up for sale include two Toyota Hilux Double Cabs, five BMWs, five Toyota Camrys, and three minibuses.

According to an advert posted in yesterday’s newspaper, interested bidders can obtain additional information and inspect the vehicles listed in the advertisement between working hours today and tomorrow, at the Garage, Back Road. On January 31, the vehicles will be available for inspection at the Stephen Campbell House compound.

The announcement continued that tenders must be addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown, Guyana. Bidders are required to write the Vehicle Registration Number on the envelope before placing the tender in the designated Tender Box. The envelope should further be clearly marked “TENDER FOR UNSERVICEABLE VEHICLES” on the top right-hand corner. The notice warned that late bids will not be accepted and will be returned unopened to the bidder.

Bidders are asked to ensure that only one bid per vehicle is placed in an envelope, as multiple bids in a single envelope will be rejected. Successful bidders will have a five-day grace period to make the necessary payment for the purchased vehicles. If payment is not received within this timeframe, the bidder will be disqualified, the announcement said.

Additionally, all sold vehicles must be removed within 14 days from the date of purchase. Failure to do so will result in a storage charge amounting to 5% of the sale price. It is also the responsibility of the successful bidder to arrange and cover the expenses for the removal of the purchased vehicle.

The opening of tenders will take place on February 1 at 09:00 hours at the OP.
