ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) recently launched its “Big Red Bus Tour” competition, which is intended to boost engagements with communities. The contest, launched at the Amazonia Mall, offers $10 million in giveaways, with an MG automobile serving as the top prize.

According to an EMGL press release, the competition is open to all Guyanese over 18 currently residing in any region of Guyana and can be entered by scanning a QR code available on the ‘Big Red Bus’, as well as on ExxonMobil Guyana’s social media platforms and website. The tour will extend across seven of Guyana’s ten administrative regions and EMGL staff members will meet residents to learn more about their culture and the country’s heritage. “En route, the bus will stop for public engagements at multiple locations, including several national sites, to celebrate their historical significance,” the press release said.

The release quoted EMGL’s Public and Government Affairs Manager Matthew Scharf as saying, “It’s important to us to engage with communities regularly and continuously. Our ‘Big Red Bus Tour’ is an opportunity for people across the country to engage with ExxonMobil staff, for us to get to know them, to share more about our operations and the initiatives we have in Guyana, and to answer questions. It’s also an opportunity for us to learn more about this beautiful country and its heritage.”

The release said that local artistes Poonam Singh, Jackie Jaxx and CKush headlined the well-attended event at the Amazonia Mall, Providence on January 27. The tour will culminate in Georgetown with the grand prize draw on March 16, it added.
