I believe that pedestrian crossing should be taught in schools again

Dear Editor,

An issue happened to me on 3th February 2024. I went to the Mon Repos market at about 7am. As I was crossing the street, it was busy so I decided to wait until the lights changed to proceed. On the other side I notice a lady coming from the opposite direction in full speed, so fast that the vehicles had to slow down.  She started looking at me smiling and I thought to myself she is crazy. Perhaps she was never taught in school that before you cross you must look left, look right ‘then look left again’and when the road is clear then cross. I believe that this system should be taught in schools again. Again I had to cross to get back on the other side of the road and as I stopped, I was surprised that everyone that was trying to cross the same time stopped with me.

Sincerely,
