Family members of 26-year old Domindra Narayan, are still struggling to come to  grips with his passing. Narayan died exactly one month after falling from a 10-foot scaffold at his workplace, Imam Bacchus and Sons, at Affiance. He was engaged in pressure-washing, something relatives state,  was outside his job description.

The incident occurred on January 9, at about 12.45 hours and Narayan succumbed to his injuries on February 9. After falling, fellow employees picked him up and rushed him to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was admitted. However, after he was discharged, relatives related that he continued to complain of severe pain in his head.

His mother Neelam Narayan, said that her son was discharged from the Suddie Public Hospital and he was still complaining of immense pain in his head. She told the Sunday Stabroek that he had suffered from a fractured skull and was bleeding internally. Neelam then took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital and even enrolled him in a clinic where he was receiving treatment.

The woman lamented the loss of her son who she said was the breadwinner of the home.

“My son is my everything, he does support us in the house here, he working for that company five years now and he supporting the family since his father is sick.”

Neelam said that she used all her money to foot her son’s medical expenses because she wanted him to get better. She noted that she tried all that she could until his last breath.

“I really wanted my son alive, he was my everything, a very quiet guy, I love my son, I never expect what happen, only God knows what is best, but my heart weeps for my son” the emotional mother said. She added before her son’s death, he seemed to be suffering from memory loss.

“I noticed that a few days before him dying he wasn’t remembering things, and he was calm, and quiet. Only God knows what this family is going through” the mother said.

The Ministry of Labour had launched an investigation into the incident but to date the family has not been informed of anything else concerning the incident.

Relatives are currently preparing for the funeral and the employer has reached out with offers of assistance with funeral expenses.
