Wendez Pompey, age 23, a vendor of Lot 23 Hill Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was charged with the offence of possession of 27.9 grammes of cannabis, contrary to Section 4 (1) (a) (i) of the Nar-cotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Control Act, chapter 10:10. The incident occurred on Saturday, 10th February 2024, at Suddie Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
On Monday, 12th February 2024, the defendant appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam, where the charge was read to him, and he pleaded guilty.
He was fined $41,550. With two months of community service, not more than three hours per day at the Ruimveldt Police Station.
