Guyana Prize for Literature 2023 announces shortlist

The Guyana Prize for Literature 2023 has released the shortlist as determined by the Jury for each of four categories: Fiction, Poetry, Drama and Non-Fiction, a release from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport announced yesterday.

The members of the Jury for 2023 are as follows:

Fiction: Prof Funso Aiyejina (Chair), Celeste Mohamed, Dr Denise deCaires, and Narain Gurnah.

Poetry: Professor Evelyn O’Callaghan (Chair), Professor Alison Donnell, and Dr Richard Georges.

Drama:  Rawle Gibbons (Chair), Eugene Williams, Gem Madhoo-Nascimento.

Non-Fiction: Professor Edward Greene (Chair); Professor David Dabydeen, and Dr Lisa Outar.

Youth Poetry: Vanda Radzik (Chair), Camanie Khedaroo, and Imam Baksh

Youth Short Story: Vanda Radzik (Chair), Camanie Khedaroo, and Imam Baksh

According to the release, the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 1, at 7.00 pm at the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown, Guyana.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport extended its congratulations to the following persons whose submissions have been shortlisted for an award.
