Newly promoted GDF officers badged

Yesterday, Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Brigadier  Omar Khan decorated the recently promoted Senior Officers with their new badges of rank at a ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess, Base Camp Ayanganna.

A release from the GDF said that four Acting Lieutenant Colonels and two of the five newly promoted Acting Majors received their new badges along with an Acting Commander and Substantive Lieutenant Commander of the Coast Guard. Three of the newly promoted are currently fulfilling overseas assignments, the release said.

Expressing full confidence in the newly promoted Officers, Brigadier Khan stressed the expectation that they would serve with dedication as demanded by the Force, emphasizing that the people of Guyana deserve nothing less.

Acting Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Nedd, the most senior Officer among the promoted, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and his colleagues. He affirmed their deep commitment to serving the GDF and the nation with distinction as they embark on the next phase of their careers.

Substantive Majors Raymond Archer, John Mohanlall, and Jose Ferreira have moved  to the rank of Acting Lieutenant Colonel. Joining the Senior Officer Corps are Substantive Captain Lloyden Layne, now a Sub-stantive Major, and Substan-tive Captains Stephen Castor, Texine Daw, and Kareem Graham, who have been appointed Acting Majors.

In the Coast Guard, Sub-stantive Lieutenant Comman-der Adrian McLean has been promoted to the rank of Acting Commander (CG) while Substantive Lieutenants (CG) Ronald Mc Intyre and Andre Kwang have been elevated to the rank of Substan-tive Lieutenant Commander.
